One of my favorite Christmas movies combined with one of my favorite songs. *sigh* Kinda puts me in the ole Christmas spirit. Now, if only my checkbook would allow me to continue!

Okay, so this is a blast from the past! There really is a reason for an 80’s video, I promise.
As some of you know, I’m writing a ghost story. It includes characters from my story, Another Time, Another Place, but it takes place in modern times…hence, the ghost part. Anyway, I was writing away today and my current day heroine (she lives in Hadley Castle and leads tours for room and board) meets the current day hero in a rather embarrassing way.
Well, its easier just to show you, so here’s the excerpt:
Shivering as she toweled off, Dawn returned to the edge of her bed. The sun warmed her skin as she sat naked in its rays. She stretched languidly across her satin comforter, enjoying the warmth as it invaded her senses.
A nervous cough tugged her from her reverie.
She yanked the towel in front of her, but only after the blonde Adonis with pale blue eyes had no doubt gotten his fill of her in all her glory.
“Uh, do you do this for a living?” Her curtness surprised even herself.
He looked everywhere but directly at her. “Excuse me?”
“Peeping Tom. Is that your chosen profession?”
“Actually, lawn care is. This is just a side gig for me.” A cute smile slid across his lips affording her a view of the deepest dimples she’d ever seen. He finally looked her in the eyes.
“Ah, you must be Will then. I didn’t think you started until next week…or I would have been a bit more careful. I guess I got used to being the only one on the grounds this early.” She felt a warm blush hit her cheeks and she pulled the towel tighter around her body.
“I’m sorry to have startled you. I actually didn’t realize I was staring until I had to cough. It wasn’t to alarm you, trust me.” He waggled an eyebrow at her while releasing a nervous giggle. “Summer came about early this year, so they called me in. I guess they didn’t bother telling you.”
“I guess not.” She felt her temper rise as he stood outside her window tossing about friendly banter. She resituated her towel and was mortified as it slipped and fell to the floor. She threw her hands strategically across her body to cover as much as she could and released a loud gasp.
The sly smile returned to his lips and he walked away from the window. His voice trailed behind him. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing I haven’t seen before.” Dawn couldn’t help but giggle at his casual tone. It didn’t help that the laughter was followed by a cheerful whistle to the tune of “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” by Jermaine Stewart; a song she remembered her parents singing from the eighties.
My wonderful, adoring, hard working, sweet, adorable husband has just received his BLACK BELT in Kenpo Karate. He has worked so hard for this and has finally made it! I’m so proud of him. He tries to act like it isn’t a big deal, but honestly, it doesn’t get much bigger than this. He has accomplished something that takes dedication, hard work and skill. This is something that most people who even try, fail to achieve. Can you tell that I’m just a little proud of him?! So, what do you give someone who accomplishes such a lofty goal?! *GRIN* Okay, what else?! 😀
Yes, I did say that I would be NaNoing this year, but I do have some good excuses. Sadly, they are just that: excuses. My computer tried to shoot craps on me. (Thank you to the guy at Firedog. My eggs are at your disposal. All you have to do is call!) Payroll was this week and our employees would not have taken NaNo as an excuse to not be paid. Little whiners 😉 Finally, I was sicker than a dog last weekend! Whew! I’m pretty sure I was standing outside death’s door, just never made it on the porch to knock. I have been writing some though and having fun while I’m at it. Maria is working hard on a new story and it sounds like a winner! I can’t wait until she gets it fleshed out. *HINT HINT*
Not a bang up start, but I did pound out 843 words yesterday. This was amidst a headache and an overall feeling of gross-ness which I am still carrying around today. Yeah, I’m hoping the Tylenol kicks in so I can up my word count today. So…Blah. That is all. 😉
PS I’ve picked up one of my WIP’s titled Just This Side of Never for my NaNo…in case any of ya wondered. Less for my brain to compute since the main characters are already hashed out. My brain needs a nap now.
Yes, this really is me! I know I’ve been AWOL for a while, but life has been hectic. I’m very happy to report that my friend with breast cancer is doing well and nearly symetrical again! GIVE IT UP FOR DEBBIE!! 😀 Also, I finished editing Another Time, Another Place last night (this morning, actually) at 3:48 am. I had a self imposed goal of October 31st and only missed it by under 4 hours. For me, that is nothing short of phenominal. I am the princess of procrastination! I’d claim the title of queen, but Maria Night already has that honor 😉 I bow to your greatness, my friend! LOL (Yes, I know I’ll pay for that statement.)
ANYHOW! It is that time of the year again kids. National Novel Writing Month. I have once again submitted myself for the torture signed up with only one teeny tiny issue. What in the heck am I going to write about? Any suggestions? Plotlines? Character ideas? I’m flailing like a banked fish here. Care to help a friend out?
