Yes, it’s that time of year again kids: National Novel Writing Month.  This will be the third year in a row that I’ve attempted to write 50,000 words in 30 days.  How has that worked out for me in the past you ask?  Well, in 2007 I was able to cross the finish line with over 50,000 words!  In 2008…not so much.  I’ve only done about 800 words for the first day which isn’t even half of the 1667 per day average, but in my defense I did go to an awesome Sunday night service at my church.  Hey, if God has my back, I can’t fail!  

Check back often and I’ll try to keep you all posted on my progress.  I’m finishing up my novel It’s About Time and starting the sequel Coming Back to Bite You!  The first one has been so much fun to write, I can only hope the sequel is too.

I finally got down to brass tacks (not really sure what brass tacks have to do with anything, but hey, who am I to judge) and went to the doctor since I’ve been sick for oh…bout two months now AGAIN.  My love/hate relationship with MD’s stems back MANY many years.  I have too passive of a nature for them and they just love tossing pills at me or chalking up any and all symptoms to my bouts of depression.  Well, I finally wrote all my symptoms down and confronted my new (well, I’ve been his patient for two years but haven’t gone in) doctor and he’s running a BUTT load of tests.  Nothing definite yet, but I’m beginning to wonder if I really want to know with what he’s hinting at.  I mean, surely if I just ignore it, the crap will go away.  Right?  (Yes, I realize that is a childish way of dealing with things, but I’m really just a kid at heart) 

I’m just so sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Much like the first line in my new book–Normal is a relative term–I’m slowly coming back to as normal of a life as I generally lead. I got flattened by some bug going around and my spring back time isn’t like it used to be. So, if you had come here lately looking for pearls of wisdom (okay, something to make you laugh) and had left empty handed, I give you my sincerest appologies! I’m on he mend, so watch out world, and watch out Work In Progress!!

As many of you know, yesterday was my baby boy’s 21st birthday. The night started out fun…but ended like a lot of 21st birthdays do. Yes, there was vomit. LOTS of vomit. Unfortunately, I was the one in the back seat holding him upright while he puked all over himself, me and my father’s truck no matter how much I tried to get him to aim out the window. Yeah, my dad laughed, but that smell just never comes out no matter how many times you take the garden hose to it, and that is exactly what we were doing at midnight last night. FUN!

Anyhow, while another milestone in the life of my family has come to pass, this is one I have NO problems with being over! Happy Birthday, CJ. Let’s not do that one again!

Yup, the kid an I got mani-pedis Saturday for the first time together It was a good day. Just had to say that first.

Okay, I also have good news! The muse is back. That’s right, he brushed off the trash from the dumpster he’s been sleeping in and came home. I hope he sticks around and sees the fruits of his labors as I’ve embarked on a three book project. I even *gasp* plotted the first one out completely! I KNOW! Stick around, this is just getting interesting.

Well, I never thought I’d ever have something in my life that I’d be proud for my kids to follow. I made all the rookie mistakes as a mom: got pregnant in High School, married a total creep, divorced said creep, married again to run away from said creep, divorced nice guy when he left me for his ex-wife… Well, you get the idea. I even went so far as to start and not finish college. I mean, talk about a path you pray your children don’t follow!! Well, writing found me at an early age. I dabbled with it from the time I was old enough to actually form sentences. I mean, Dick and Jane had some crazy times, let me just say! Anyway, before I get off on yet another tangent, I just wanted to say that my daughter has told me she wants to take writing classes and enter some short story contests! This kid is good too! Before long, she will be looking in her rear view mirror and watching me eating her dust. I’m so proud of her I could just hug the tar out of her! Yeah, I always knew my kids loved me, but this past Sunday was my all time favorite Mother’s Day ever. I came home Saturday night and my kids had paid a visit to the house and decorated it for me. There were streamers and balloons, cards and candles everywhere. Across the french doors were cut out letters that spelled Happy Mom Day. THEN they both showed up for church. I guess it just takes some distance to make things clearer. They never quite understand that you don’t want an expensive gift…well, unless they can afford one…or breakfast in bed…unless they are already making for themselves…, all it takes it an act of love and an hour of their time on Sunday morning to make me happy I LOVE MY BABIES! *sigh* I’m the luckiest mother in the world.
